Growing up i listened to rock music to help channel my energy before going to play for tournaments. It helped me focus, nullify all other thoughts & be energised in a direction. For me playing required a lot of mental stability which rock music helped achieve. The only other time i listen to rock is while driving, again because somehow i feel the vehicle is more smooth in function/powerful/fantastic while driving with rock music. It helps me feel non-stagnant & as though i've moved so far. If its not that feel, i somehow just admire & enjoy/appreciate my vehicle better with rock music even while having to go through/wait in traffic.
My appreciation of rock music took a whole different turn as i visited the National Law School campus near my place of stay for a Fest. I couldnt believe that the place i walked in to casually kill boredom & pass time was a rock concert ! I was expecting to see an exhibition and some synchronised stupid dances But ended up so amazed & happy about the first live rock concert i attended. I never imagined nor knew till then that there were good rock bands that played really well in India too ! Rock bands from all over India reach there to perform for the once a year event called 'Strawberry Fields'. I felt goose bumps throughout the concert in hearing those voices. Everyone was dressed in black as though it was a uniform for rock enthusiasts. I was the odd one out in the entire crowd with a white tshirt & cream pants. I noticed there were a lot of wanna-be's in the crowd who clearly didnt know a thing about rock but were cussing around trying to sound cool and behave high. I just wished people never mistake all rock music lovers to be like them. Then there were people who really followed the songs & were truely enjoying with friends. I realised that Kebab at the fest tasted so much more better with rock music.The feel of a live rock concert was something i had missed-out on & i felt bad about myself for being selfish till then by only listening to rock on Tv or thru my headphones before a game or drive. A true lover should explore and understand her love in everyway possible and since then i started attending rock concerts as well. I felt i had restricted myself to hearing only whatever i wanted to hear. I learnt about so many bands i hadnt heard of but whose works were out of this world. I had never known about a lot of old school rock songs which were played at the concert. Had reached back home that night to search about every song i had enjoyed there. Such emotions ! Such Spirit ! Such killer experiences expressed in some of those lyrics. To realise more of your love is such an utter joy.
Thats as brief as i can get about how i was into rock n roll and how i got More into rock n roll.
